    DIET COMPOSITION AND FEEDING HABITS OF CYPRINUS CARPIO (LINNAEUS 1758) (PISCES: CYPRINIDAE) IN LAKE AREKIT, ETHIOPIA

    The diet composition and feeding habits of Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus, 1758) were examined using 209 fish samples from Lake Arekit. The species' feeding patterns were determined through numerical indexes (frequency of occurrence and volumetric contribution) and composite indexes (Index of Preponderance (IOP) and Geometric Index of Importance (GIIi)). Among the 209 specimens, 174 (83.3%) displayed a range of dietary items in their stomachs. Detritus emerged as the primary food source for C. carpio, followed by macrophytes, insects, and zooplankton. A lesser amount of phytoplankton, nematodes, and ostracods were also consumed. Based on the findings, C. carpio can be classified as a detri-omnivore, as it consumes benthic species like nematodes, ostracods, and insect larvae. Seasonal fluctuations in food item consumption were noted (p < 0.05), with higher intake during the rainy season and reduced consumption in the dry season. Significant variations in food preferences were observed among size groups (p < 0.05). Smaller size classes preferred foods of animal origin, such as ostracods, zooplankton, and insects, while macrophytes and detritus were more prevalent in the largest class. This study enhances our understanding of C. carpio's diet in Lake Arekit. Still, further research is necessary to explore the diet across the fish's lifespan and monthly, considering various environmental conditions.

    PERCEIVED EFFECT OF INCENTIVE PACKAGE ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN SELECTED MANUFACTURING COMPANY IN GURAGE ZONE

    In the current competitive business environment, Manufacturing Company is facing a lot of challenges particularly getting the qualified employees and retaining them. The objective of this study was to investigate the perceived Effect of Incentive Package on employee performance in the Selected Manufacturing Company in Gurage Zone. Therefore, the study was intended to identify the perceived Effect of Incentive Package on employee performance in the Selected Manufacturing Company based on their importance, assess the role of Incentive Package, socio-demographics variables on employee performance. The study used mixed method approaches. A total of 300 employees selected and analyzed working in those companies, employees out of 309 respondents were participated in the study. Three Human resource managers and Three Supervisors were included as a sample through purposive sampling and others included through stratified random sampling technique. Questionnaire and interview were the main instruments of data collection. The analysis of the quantitative data was executed through descriptive and inferential statistical methods. Explanatory research is computed of variables to explain (31 items) and to interpret the results as well as to identify the underlying relationships between measured variables. A structure Likert Scale format questionnaire has been used for data collection. The data obtained were analyzed using (SPSS) version 23 program, descriptive analysis, normality test, reliability test, Multicollinearity test, Person’s Correlation and Multiple Liner Regression were conducted in order to interpret the data. As the regression analysis results revalue independent variables for Profit Sharing, Recognition, Working Conditions, and Training Opportunity exerted the greatest positive influence on level of achievement, that Salary and Insurance exerted a positive and statistically insignificant influence on level of achievement on employee performance. The results of this study conclude that higher the level of incentives package; better employees’ performance, commitment and loyalty towards their company Based on the finding the study recommends that the management of the company that improve more.

    FACTORS AFFECTINGTHE STRATEGIC PLAN IMPLEMENTETION THE CASE OF GURAGHE ZONE TECHNIQUE AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION TRAINING COLLEGES

    The main objective of this study was “Factors Affecting Strategic Plan Implementation the Case of Guraghe zone TVET Colleges”. The study used an explanatory research design with systematic sampling technique. The population of the study consisted of 498 board members and employees of Gurage Zone TVET colleges specially (Agena, Wolkite and Butajira) The sample size was 222 board members and employees which included 27 board members, 103 teachers, 9 management bodies, 21 department heads, and 62 administration officers. The data was collected from two sources as primary and secondary. Primary data collected through questionnaire, interview and personal observation from three colleges. Secondary data was collected from written documents and reports. The collected data was analyzed using statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) version 21. The study used descriptive (i.e., mean, percentage and standard deviation analysis) and inferential analysis like regression analysis. The result of the study showed that organizational culture, structure, resources allocation, strategic leadership and reward positively affected, while political instability negatively affected implementation of strategic plan at Gurage zone TVET colleges. The study further recommends that leaders should understand and perform strategic plan implementation by reducing factors affecting strategic plan implementation. All employees should get involved in strategic plan implementation to maximize the achievement of it. Proper monitoring and evaluation should be carried out so as to ensure success of the strategic plan. It also recommends to college’s management body should give attention to distribution adequate, resource.

    CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS OF BALANCED SCORE CARD /BSC/ IMPLEMENTATION: ACASE OF SILTE ZONE PUBLIC OFFICE, S SNNPR, AND ETHIOPIA

    The purpose of this study, an attempt was made to investigate whether BSC implementation in the Silte Zone Government office is successful or not, and find out the challenges and prospects of BSC implementation. This study adopted a descriptive design and employed both quantitative and qualitative approaches to achieve the research objectives. Data was collected from both primary and secondary source. Out of the 603 target population 240 were selected. The study adopted probability and non-probability sampling design methods. From this 222(92.5) managed to return. The collected data analyzed by Statistical package for Social sciences (SPSS, version 20). The finding show the major challenges and prospects that selected Public office in the five of perspective are organization working culture, top management commitment ,cascading process, employee involvement and challenges of selection of performance measures. It is possible to conclude that the top management commitment was visible during implementation of BSC , organization culture does support the full implementation of BSC, employee participation does highly developed the full implementation of BSC, there is providing excellent cascaded throughout the organization from the top to the low level and there is no challenges of selection of performance measures. So continuous guidance (direction), prompt corrective action, participate staff at all levels, enhance accountability through ownership of objectives and performance measures and desired employee behaviors.

    CAUSES ANDIMPACTS OFNONPERFORMINGLOANSONTHEOPERATIONSOF MICROFINANCE INSTITUTIONS

    The study was conducted to examine both the Causesand impacts of nonperforming loanson the operations of MFIs particularly focusing on Specialized Financial and Promotional Institution. Loan portfolio is the major assets of any financial institution to sustain in the industry, but once some portion of this asset is unexpectedly stop producing interest incomes, the quality of loan portfolio also negatively affected. This research study adopted descriptive and explanatory researchdesign on the causes of nonperforming loans of Specialized Financialand Promotional Institution, and datahas been collected mainly through primary source using questionnairefrom SFPI staffs. A case study approach was also used to collect secondary data by reviewing the annual reports and income statement to identify the extents of NPLs impacts on the operation activities of SFPI. So, 65 staffs were taken as samples based on stratified random sampling method of sample selection by using mathematical formula. For data analysis, descriptive statistics including mean, frequency, percentages, graph, pie chart and simple excel were used. Regression analysis used through SPSS software version 20. This researchstudy found out the major causes of NPLs which significantly affecting the portfolio quality of the institution. Therefore, At 5% level of significance and 95% level of confidence, inadequatemonitoring and follow up, wrong timing of credit delivery, inefficient management information system, ineffective credit approval, and credit appraisalvariables were causing nonperforming loans of SFPI. The study also found out that nonperforming loans contribute mostly to interest incomes that generatedfrom the total loan portfolio was eaten for the provision of bad dept in five years analysis. Also the study indicates a net operating profit of the institution was eroded due to provisioning payments for nonperforming loans (bad debts) and available funds for loans are significantly declined as nonperforming loans increase. Furtherstudy revealed that agricultural loan sector, petty trade loan sector and WEDP loan sector has the highest share of NPLs and followed by others sectors such as, micro energy loan sector, individual loan sector and service sector. To mitigate the problems of nonperforming loans some strategic issues and mechanisms were recommended to the management of SFPI.These measuresare:appropriatecredit approval, adequatemonitoring and follow up before and after loans grantedto the customers, Continuous branch supervision to ensure timely credit delivery, credit diversification strategies, implement effective and efficient Management information systems and mechanisms to control the health of loanportfolio

    EFFECT OF WORK-LIFE BALANCE ON EMPLOYEES’ JOB PERFORMANCE: THE CASE OF COMMERCIAL BANK OF ETHIOPIAIN HOSSANA DISTRICT

    The objective of the study was to determine effect of work life balance on employee performance in commercial bank of Ethiopia at Hossana district. This study was supported by three theories which are; component theory, spillover theory and work-family border. The study adopted survey research design using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The target population was 977 employees from 13 commercial bank of Ethiopia at Hossana districtwith a sample size of 284 respondents. Sample was selected using multi-stage sampling techniques. Structured questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze and process the obtained data. The data obtained was analyzed using SPSS software of version 20. The influence of WLB on EP was determined using multiple regression analysis. The study found that flexible work-arrangement, leave programs, wellness programs and employee assistance programs concerns were more strongly related to performance of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia. Flexible work-arrangement has strong predictor of job performance. Leave programs, wellness programs and employee assistance program are influenced employee performance. The study recommends that organizations should offer flexible work arrangements and wellness programs to its employees for increased performance.

    THE EFFECT OF ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE ON EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION; THE CASE OF SELECTED GOVERNMENT OFFICE IN WESTERN GURAGHY ZONE

    The objective of the study is to examine the effect of organizational climate on employee job satisfaction in the case of selected government organization in western Guraghe zone. The study identifies seven dimensions of organizational climate and investigates their influence on job satisfaction. To do so, the study has employed a cross-sectional study design with an explanatory and descriptive design in interpretation of the data collected through self-administered questionnaire and the researcher has conducted questioner with the employees of one organization in the selected organization. A randomly selected 140 workers were participated in the study whose service level from long serviced to fresh. The analysis is made by making use of descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression model. It was found out that the staffs have positive perception about their organizational climate but they have neutral feeling to their job. All selected organizational climate factors have positive relationship with job satisfaction. Among them participation in decision making 3.46, pay and benefit 2.86, human relation 3.69, employee wellness 3.61, leadership and management 2.75 and corporate image are significant predictor of job satisfaction. Working condition 3.65 was found out to be insignificant in explaining the variation in the level of job satisfaction. This implies that when the above factors are fulfilled working condition is a least wanted facility. In addition, it was revealed that the perception of organizational climate and level of job satisfaction does not significantly vary with different experience and job level of the staff. With the revealed findings, it was recommended to the organizations to improve leadership and management and pay and benefit practices and to give more focus to other factors than working condition.

    EFFECTS OF MARKETING STRATEGIES ON MARKETING PERFORMANCE: THE CASE OF ETHIO-TELECOM WOLAYITA DISTRICT

    This study investigates the impact of marketing strategies on marketing performance within Ethio-Telecom in Wolayita District, Ethiopia. The total population consisted of 500 stakeholders, with a sample size of 222 respondents selected through stratified random sampling. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research utilized qualitative thematic analysis and quantitative regression analysis to analyze data from surveys, interviews, and secondary sources. The findings indicate a positive correlation between marketing strategies and marketing performance, with product innovation and effective promotion identified as critical drivers of success. While place strategies exhibit a moderate influence, physical evidence strategies play a pivotal role in enhancing marketing outcomes. These insights underscore the importance of tailored marketing strategies, such as product innovation, effective promotion, and optimizing physical evidence, in driving marketing performance within Ethio-Telecom Wolayita District. This abstract succinctly summarizes the study's scope, methodology, and key findings, offering valuable insights for busy readers and managers in the telecommunications sector.

    THE EFFECT OF CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT PRACTICE ON THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IN THE CASE OF COMMERCIAL BANK OF ETHIOPIA OPERATING IN GURAGHE ZONE

    This study want to address the highlighted gaps established in the literature by examining the influence of customer relationship management practices on the customer satisfaction in the case of commercia Bank of Ethiopia in Guraghe zone with reference to assessing the CRM practices. The thesis was used the five key constructs of Customer Relationship Management these are organizational commitment, customer experience, process driven approach, reliability and technology orientation.The research design in this study was both descriptive and explanatory type research. The function of research design is to provide for the collection of relevant data with minimum expenditure of effort time and money taking in to account the research purpose. During sampling techniques were used stratified random sampling is also a form of probability sampling. For this purpose, the researcher distributed questionnaires to 267 respondents from which 250 of the questionnaires were filled and returned to the researcher for analysis. In this research the SPSS and Stata software is used to enhance data analysis process. The problem has shown in this thesis from the result of cronbach’s alpha is the reliability statistics which is a little bit small.To increase the number of questions the respondent may be bored. The findings of the study shows that the technology orientation has the highest influence on customer satisfaction. Hence Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Guraghe zone should be very conscious in improving more use of latest technology to offer quality services. This will yield more customer satisfaction which may contribute to customer loyalty and retention as argued by some researchers. Additionally future research is recommended to identify other variables of customer relationship management that effect customer satisfaction and the mediating factors as this study evaluated the relationship only from five dimensions.
