Item MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, PRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCES AND EGG QUALITY TRAITS OF THREE EXOTIC CHICKEN BREEDS UNDER VILLAGE PRODUCTION SYSTEM IN YEM DISTRICT, SNNPRS, ETHIOPIA(Wolkite University, 2023-06) TIKIMU TSEGAYA cross sectional study was conducted with the objectives of assessing management practices, productive performance, major constraints and egg quality traits of SassoT44, Bovans brownand Koekoek chicken breeds under village production system, in highland and midland of Yem district in SNNPRS, Ethiopia. Totally, 216 randomly selected respondents were involved in the study from six purposively selected Peasant Associations (PAs) representing two agro ecologies. The collected data were analyzed SPSS Version 26 and SAS 9.3 using general linear model (GLM) by fitting two Agro ecologies and three breeds as main and interaction effects. About70.5% of the respondents were male headed. The average of chickens per households was 7. About 69.9% of the respondents provided additional supplement, which were wheat, maize and kitchen waste. Almost 100% of respondents in both agro ecologies provided 67.59% of water with free access and 36.6% of respondents did vaccinate their chicken. About 87.7 % in highland and midland of respondents had good market access to inputs and 93% of respondentsin highland and midland had good market access to sell eggs and live chicken in the study area. About 61.1% in highland and midland respondents used extension service. The average eggs laid/ year were (179.9, 187.9) eggs for SassT44, (158.1, 165.1) for BB and (154.9, 164.8) for PK(Koekoek), in highland and midland respectively. Average age at first laying was 176.2, 163.4, 173.7and159.2, 176.3, 162.3 days for SassoT44, Bovans brown and PK (Koekoek) in highland and midland respectively. Sasso was superior in terms of egg weight, shell thickness, Yolk color, Yolk index, while HU (Haugh Unit) was superior in terms of egg width, egg length, egg shape, shell weight, albumin weight, albumin height, yolk height, yolk weight and yolk diameter in highland. Whereas in midland, SassoT44 was superior in terms of egg weight, egg width, eggshape, yolk height, Shell thickness, shell weight, Yolk weight and HU (Haugh Unit), while Pk(Koekoek) was superior in albumin weight, yolk color, Yolk index, Yolk diameter and egg length.Diseases, in adequate veterinary services, lack of knowledge, high cost of improved chicks were registered as, major constraints in both agro ecologies. Health services, technical support and monitoring, training, provision of improved feed, provision of improved, cooperative marketing and provision of shelter were suggested points to improve chicken production in the study district.Item ASSESSMENT OF FACTORS AFFECTING LOAN REPAYMENT PERFORMANCE IN OMO MICRO-FINANCE INSTITUTION IN WOLKITE TOWN BRANCH(Wolkite University, 2019-06) Bedru MisganoMicro finance institutions have a significant role for the development of one’s country economic development by providing a credit and also a saving service for those productive clients. Though there are many factors that can affect the efficiency of the institution like, loan management and processing system, cash management, and loan repayment performance. This study was conduct with the aim of analyzing the factors that influence micro-finance loan repayment performance, specifically in OMO micro finance institution in wolkite branch using primary data which was collected through self-administered questionnaire. This study intends to assess the factors affecting loan repayment performance of the beneficiaries of OMO micro finance institution. In order to achieve this objective, the study adopted qualitative research approach. Primarily datawere collected from 15 employees in the institution’s holding different positions select through purposive sampling techniques using a self-administered questionnaire.. For the data analysis, descriptive research designs the phenomena or variables that influencing the repayment rate.
