Item ASSESSMENT OF KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE TOWARDS COMMUNITY-BASED HEALTH INSURANCE IN WOLKITE TOWN,GURAGE ZONE, SOUTH ETHIOPIA, 2022 G.C(WOLKITE UNIVERSITY, 2022-05) Semira Abdulquadr; Asnake Detamo; Mebatsion AbaynehBackground :Community-based health insurance (CBHI) is a not-for-profit mechanism based upon solidarity among a relatively small group of people up to large community. It is also considered as any program managed and operated by a community-based organization, other than government or a private for-profit company, that provides risk-pooling to cover the costs (or some part thereof) of health care services. To ensure the community to get access the health care service, many developing countries have designed Community-Based Health Insurance Schemes. However, lack of knowledge, attitudinal and practical barriers made the process of the implementation of these schemes far behind attaining the intended goals and objectives. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of the community towards CBHI in Wolkite town, Gurage Zone, South Ethiopia . The study was done from May, 2022 GC- June, 2022 GC.Study Design- We used community based cross sectional study design to assess knowledge, attitude and practice of the community towards community based health insurance in the Wolkite town. Simple random sampling technique employed to select individuals from randomly selected kebeles in wolkite town. Data analyzed by using SSPS Software and presented by word and tables ; and could be used by any institutional and non institutional body who want to tackle the problems of study area. Result: The community‘s knowledge, attitude and practices towards CBHI was found as 87%, 65% and 49% respectively in the study area. Conclusion: There was good awareness about CBHI schemes in study area, but it is not adequate. There was also positive attitude towards CBHI and there was also relative good enrollment of CBHI in study area
