THE ROLE OF SPORT AS SOCIO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE CASE OF KILTO GOMORO TWON MISRAK AZERNETE WOREDA SILTE ZONE, SOUTHERN ETHIOPIA

Abstract

The study was conducted in Kilt Gomoro Town. The main objective of this study was to assess the socioeconomic developmental tool for Kilt Gomora Town and investigate the major factors that hinder the practical contribution of a sport and achieve this objective, two data gathering tools were used, questionnaire and interview. From the total population, 40 people were sampled as the subject of study and used to non probability sampling techniques of a particular purposive sampling technique. The gathered data through these tools were carefully analyzed and interpreted and some conclusions were drawn .The data analyzed and interpreted indicate that the practical contribution of a sport in social, economic and physical development in the stated town is insignificant due to lack of adequate professionals in the field of sport ,. Cultural back ground of the community, religious factors and lack of sport center for community service Based on these major findings .It was recommended that the government should work harder than ever before to promote the practical role of a sport by training adequate professionals in the field of a sport. In addition, it was recommended that employees who work in the office of the youth and sport should work harder to create awareness on the contribution of a sport in the society
