Abstract
Today most countries in the world are recommended to reorganize their government structure to
been the decentralization. But it is not effective due to different challenges such as lack of
awareness about concept of political decentralization. The financial constraints and corruption
(power) concentration. This study aims to identify the roles, and challenges of decentralization
in building democratic governance. To investigate the problems, the study settles a specific
objective of identify lack of awareness about decentralization in building democratic governance
and roles, and challenges of decentralization to investigate the problem. The study used
purposive sampling based on the subjective judgment of the researcher. To collect the data, the
study used primary and secondary data. To analyses the data, the study used descriptive
research. The study found that the level of decentralization in building democratic governance
implementation is low due to lack of effective implementation decentralization and corruption
officials [power} concentration. The recommends are that in order to improve the
decentralization. Government and peoples should work together or hand to hand by practiced
decentralization in building democratic governance
