Abstract

This research the aim of the study was to explore the cause and consequence of late in marriage among females in Gurage zone particularly in the case of wolkite town in 05 kebele. the general objective of this study was to explore the main cause of delay in marriage and its consequence among female residents of wolkite Town in 2015. And the specific objectives of the study were to know the cause of delay marriage, to comprehend explore the consequence of delay in marriage and to know the perception of unmarried women toward marriage. The research was conducted using qualitative research methodology, and the study employed a phenomenological research design and used purposive sampling techniques to get the informants. Both types and sources of data, primary data and secondary data, were employed in the study. The researchers employed in-depth interviews, key informant interviews, as data collection tools to gather information to attain research objectives. Data from the informant was analysed using thematic qualitative analytical research methods. The result of this research is that there are many factors for women’s late marriage. One of the reasons for the finding was economic the others are family economic situation, cohabitation, their economic situation, family disintegration, waiting for the right person, to achieve their goal and the researches recommend- Government should create employment opportunities that improve the income of family. Awareness creation program should be practice about the consequence of late marriage. local authority whose work is related to marriage should discourage late marriage. it’s better to marriage a right age because late marriage has negative impact on persons psychology
