Abstract
Chickpea is an important pulse crop grown on black soil. Area under Chickpea has been
expanding due to its diversified usage. The objective of this research paper is to identify the
determinants of marketable surplus of chickpea in case of woliso district, and identifying
chickpea’s marketing status in woliso district is the specific objective of this study. To examine
these determinants, Potential producer kebeles are selected purposively. Respondents from each
kebeles are selected based on probabilistic simple random sampling techniques and accordingly
sample of 70 respondents were taken. To collect relevant data, structured interviews were
applied. To analyze the data both descriptive statistics and econometrics models (for analyzing
determinants of marketable surplus) were employed. Determinants of marketable surplus were
analyzed by using multiple linear regression model. accordingly age, land size, household size,
market information and credit access were significant factors that affect marketable surplus of
chickpea in the study area. vif shows that there was no problem of multicollinearity. Descriptive
statistics was applied to describe dummy variables and characteristics of respondents
