Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the major factors that affect co Curriculum activities. The participants involved in the study include-9 first cycle primary schools, 9 primary principals, 60 primary school teachers and 85 students. The simple random sampling techniques was been employed to collect data from the primary school teachers, students and principals whereas the availability sampling techniques was employed to collect data from school students, teacher and principals. To gather the necessary data from the respondent’s questioner have distributed to the student’s school principals and the teachers; additionally, percentage has used to analyze the data gathered from respondents. The research revealed that, even if there is a Co-Curriculum activities organized in all the schools under the study, the frequency of the program is quite discontinuous and not adequate. Moreover, Co-Curriculum activities organized in all primary schools the program coordination is only restricted to school level. The study also elicited problems like lack of budget, lack training need assessment and lack of interest teachers as major constraints of the program. Finally based on the findings the recommendations that have forwarded are: school should create awareness of Co-Curriculum activities in teacher and students attract them toward the practice on voluntary base, and random selection and assignment of the member to join club should have avoided. Short training and orientation should have provided for students and teacher to develop appositive attitude on the purpose of Co-Curriculum activities at the school. Schools ought to communicate with external fund raising agents for financial support besides creating mechanism for the clubs to generate funds by themselves.
