Abstract

The Main purpose of this research is that statistically to analysis the causes of low birth weight among neonatal born because of it affects newborn. The objective of this study was to identify and study the effect of the factors associated with low birth weight among neonatal Born at Atat general hospital. The main independent variables included in this research are educational level of mother, birth order of newborn, diet during pregnancy, multiple child status, occupations status, economics status, malaria status, age in years, place of residence and birth weight of baby For this research 84 sample were selected from 3012 women found in Atat general hospital. The statistical methods that are used in this study were descriptive statistics like frequency table and inferential statistics like chi-square test and binary logistic regression. The result of binary logistic regression revealed that malaria status, birth order of newborn, diet during pregnancy, multiple child status and birth weight of baby statistically significant predictors of low birth weight. To ensure an improved factor of the services in Atat general hospital improving women‟s education level would play a great role in enhancing low birth weight services
