Abstract
The major objective of this study was to assess principal’s leadership practice and its role on quality of teaching learning process in selected primary schools in Addis Ababa City Administration. The study was delimited to assess the role principal’s instructional leadership practice in 3 primary schools of Addis Ababa City. For these 3 primary schools I used cluster random sampling technique.The study was involved descriptive survey design. Teachers, principals and supervisors in the selected primary schools were the sources ofsurvey. In New LifeSchool, there are 13 teachers, in felege Yordanos School, there are 16 teachers and in Bluebird School, there are 11teachers. Totally 40 teachers will be taken as the sample of the study through comprehensive sampling technique and 3 school principals and 1 supervisor will be included by using Comprehensive sampling technique. To collect valuable data for the study, two different types of data collection instruments were employed- questionnaire and interview. Datawas analyse by using descriptive statistics inform of frequency counts and percentage distribution technique to show the face values of the effects to each element of questions.The finding of the study shows that Primary school teachers of Addis Ababa city Administration perceive their school leaders (principals) plays a great role in the professional skill development teachers.Lack of training on instructional leadership lack of in-service training and teachers’ development program, lack of cooperation and commitment between school leaders and teachers , school leaders and students, school leader and school communities , and lack of recurrent budget support, leaders unwillingness to devote more time for instructional issues , and lack of organizing the school community for leadership work were the major factors that affect the practice of principals’ instructional leadership and their teaching and learning roles as an instructional leader,It is possible to conclude principal’s instructional leadership practice in primary schools of Addis Ababa city Administration is going in good manner despite so many problems.
