Abstract
The major purpose of this research was to assess the factors that affect the
participation of female students in physical education class in Butajira millennium
secondary schools.
The total population of the study were 421 from those 184 are grade 10 and 237
are grade 9 female students.
Samples were taken out of which 84 female students, 1 school administrators and 2
physical education teachers were selected for the study.
Compressive and random sampling techniques were used in the study.
Data collected from the participant were analyzed by using tables and interpreted
by means of both qualitative and quantitative analysis method.
Some of the major findings include the majority of female students in the sample,
schools have less interest to participate physical education class, cultural,
biological, pregnancy ,menstruation past experience, economical, physical and
physiological factors personality and body form are major factors, that hinder the
participation of female students during physical education class. Hence, it is
recommended that depending on the result of finding concerned bodies such as
parents, physical education teachers Butajira educational office. Should create
awareness for female students about the benefits of physical education subject and
its benefit.physical education teachers should apply student centers teaching
approach in order to motivate female students
