Abstract

Introduction Utero-vaginal prolapse (UVP) is the descent of the uterus and vaginal segments, such as the anterior wall, the posterior wall or the apex of the vagina into or beyond the vagina. Older age, Family history, menopause, higher parity, vaginal delivery, and prolonged labor are major risk factors for the development of uterovaginal prolapse (1).The prevalence of uterovaginal prolapses in the world wide level 2-20% among all women. The incidence of utero vaginal prolapse is 17% in Australia, 8.5% in France and 27% inTurkeyA systematic review and meta-analysis showed that the overall national prevalence of pelvic organ prolapse in Ethiopia was 23.52% .The result of the study willhelp health professionals and provides information for future study or intervention and also provides baseline information for administrators to allocate the necessary budget to manage utero-vaginal prolapse in Bunchier town. Objective To assess the Prevalence and associated factor of Utero Vaginal Prolapse among women of Gunchire town , Gurage Zone, SNNPR, Ethiopia, 2021Method: Community- based cross-sectional study was conducted among 292 women inGunchire town from july-1 to July 30. A systematic sampling technique was used toselect study participants and Data was collected by reviewing charts using structuredquestionnaire. The data was entered and cleaned by and analyzed using SPSS (Version 22)software. Both bivariate and multivariate logistic regression, odds ratio with 95% CI wascarried out to see the effect of each independent variables on the dependent variables. AP-value <0.05 were considered as statistical significance. Result: The prevalence of utero-vaginal prolapse was 15.1% (95%CI: 11.0, 19.5). Caesarian delivery (AOR: 0.16; 95%CI: (0.5, 0.51),Home delivery (AOR: 4.0; 95%CI:1.1, 14.6), menopause (AOR: 17.1CI; 95% (5.9, 49.9), prolonged labor (AOR: 4.0;95%CI: 1.3, 11.8), and constipation (AOR: 10.5; 95%CI: 3.3, 33.6) were statistically significant for utero-vaginal prolapse. Conclusion: The prevalence of utero-vaginal prolapse in Gunchire town was high whencompared to other researches done in national level. Caesarian delivery, Home delivery, Menopause, constipation and prolonged labor, was factor associated with uterovaginal prolapse
