dc.description.abstractMunicipal solid waste (MSW) refers to the collection, transfer, treatment, recycling, resources recovery and disposal of solid waste in urban areas. This study aimed at assessment of impact of solid waste Practices in Ethiopia. In the study researchers questions the existing SW practices look like and factor affecting SW system.The country has been experiencing very poor solid waste management system. In-adequate solid waste management in the country has resulted in the accumulation of waste on open lands, in drains and in the residential areas, causing a nuisance and foul-smelling pools, environmental pollution through leach ate from piles (water and soil pollution) and burning of waste (air pollution), clogging of drains. This study was, thus, conducted to fill the existing gap.Waste is defined as eliminated or discarded unwanted or unusable material, substances, or by products produced by individuals, households or organizations. As a result waste is a complex mixture of different substances, only some of which are intrinsically hazardous to health and human activities have always generated waste. Increasing population levels, booming economy, rapid urbanization and the rise in community living standards have greatly accelerated the municipal solid waste generation rate in developing countries en_US
