dc.description.abstractBACKGROUND: Anemia is a significant public health problem in developing countries, especially in pregnant women. Anemia affects the life of greater than 2 billion people worldwide, accounting for over 30% of the world’s population which is the most common public health problem especially in developing countries occurring at all stages of the life cycle It may complicate pregnancy, sometimes resulting in tragic outcomes, also Anemia impairs cognitive development, reduces physical work capacity, preterm delivery and in severe cases increases risk of mortality particularly during prenatal period. Globally, anemia contributes to 20% of all maternal deaths; Anemia in pregnancy may also lead to premature births, low birth weight, and fetal impairment and infant deaths. Anemia in pregnancy has a significant global public health threat especially in developing countries that contribute to maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVE: To assess the prevalence and associated factors of anemia among pregnant women attending ANC in drama governmental health institutions from June 14 – July 11 in 2021GC.Method: Institutional based cross sectional studies were conducted among pregnant women attending ANC in drama governmental health institutions and a total of 403 study participants were selected by Quota sampling technique. The data were checked and coded. Then Entered and analyzed using Epi-info version 3.1 and SPSS version 25 respectively, then multivariate analysis was done to assess the association between independent and dependent variables. P value < 0.05 with 95% CI was declared statistically significant in the in final model.Result: The overall prevalence of anemia among pregnant was 31.8%; of this 26.6% and 5 % had mild and moderate anemia respectively; But there is no sever anemic pregnant. The result of multivariable analysis revealed that the likelihood of anemia was less among pregnant women who had no iron supplement and history of abortion. Conclusion: The overall prevalence of anemia among pregnant women attending antenatal care in the study area was 31.5% were anemic. Nutritional status meal frequency and history of abortion was significantly associated with anemia in pregnant women.en_US
