Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate the factors that affect the performance of public project management practices in Guraghe Zone in selected sectors in infrastructural development projects. The study also aimed to point out these difficulties and thus improve the project management practice in order to benefit from the findings. And then a descriptive research method and explanatory research method was used/preferred in order to achieve the intended purpose of the study. Again Questionnaire, interview and observation were vital for the purpose of collecting required data for the study. The Questionnaire survey was collected from the selected sectors’ employees who are directly involved in public project management practices especially in construction and development project planning, Executing and controlling. Purposive sampling technique was applied/ employed in selecting the samples. And the collected data were analyzed using software Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS V.20) to generate mean, frequencies, standard deviation and percentages of the statics. Beside this the researcher used correlation analysis and regression analysis in order to determine the association between study variables. this study finds out the major significant factors affecting performance of public projectsˈ management practices using participants who have been involved recently. It was found that, Project Scope Management and project performance, Enterprise Environmental issues and project performance, Project Cost Management and project performance and other variables negatively influence project performance while other variables such as Project Quality Management, Project Human Resource Management and project has positive and significant effect on project performance. In Furthermore, . in the study presents other significantly challenging factors in the performance of public project management practices. Therefore, based on the findings, appropriate suggestion and recommendation are settled.
