Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to assess training and development practice in woliso soap factory. The populations of the study are members of the soap factory and the study used simple random sampling method to select samples. The study used 80 selected samples and asked about the general training and development practice through questionnaire and interview. From the total 80 population 64 samples were collected and the data collected have analyzed in descriptive way using quantitative research method. The study tried to assess the training and development practice inWoliso soap factory and give appropriate conclusion and recommendation as follows success. Most of the employee did not have training and development program and the criteria that had been used to select employees for training are not clear and similar persons had been selected for different types of training program. Therefore, there is no transparency how each trainee is had selected for different types of training activities. Even if the organization had arranged training and developments all employees does not get equal opportunity for the arranged program. Therefore the organization has to make transparent and accountable evaluation criteria to select employees for training and development program
