ASSESSMENT OF ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT IN CASE OF LAFTO SUB CITY, ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA

Abstract

The study was focused on the assessment of prevalence of road traffic accident in Lafto sub city. The road traffic accidents are major and neglected public healthy challenges. The researchers selected the sub city purposively and 99 sample households by simple randomly sampling techniques. Both primary and secondary methods of data collection were used. Primary data was collected form Lafto sub city traffic police department and interview and questionnaire. In addition, secondary data from various sources were collected in order to complement the primary data. The secondary data was collected from three document that means from 2020- 2022. Data was analyzed by qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques like table and percentage. The finding of the study show, that the cause of road traffic accident in the city was failure to give way of pedestrian, over speeding, nature of the land was ranked form 1-3interims of severity. The highest prevalence of road traffic accident in the study area was recorded in 2022. Therefore, recommendation is given for minimizing this problem or prevalence of road traffic accident like creating awareness for the people by creating awareness traffic rule and regulation, checking the driver license, increase the number of traffic sign and the zebra cross.
