Abstract
demand and the supply of care giving are not limited to some specific people, country, or continent. There is increased insight in the amount of care provided and the tasks that caregivers provide. It is one of the routine and ongoing socio-economic problems in the world. This study was conducted on Economic cost of care giving for Elders(care recipient) the case of South West Shoa Zone,Oromia.The general objective of this study is to analyzes the cost of supplied support with special emphasis on the labor market-related opportunity cost of care giving for the elders in the zone. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the researcher was used both primary and secondary data. The primary data was collected through questionnaires and interview. Whereas, secondary data was obtained from published and unpublished documents and from administration offices of the Woreda and voluntary care provider’s offices. The sampling technique that was used in this study is simple random sampling technique. After data gathered from perspective sources, it was analyzed using descriptive method and inferential statistics by using ordinary least square (OLS). Based on the OLS regression outcome sex of caregivers, family size of caregivers, household size of care recipient, marital status of caregivers, employment status of caregivers, and education level of caregivers and average monthly income of care recipient are statistically significant and based on this result, awareness creation, policy related measurement and financial support recommendations were forwarded.
