dc.description.abstractThis study deals with the role of community participation in preventing crime in case of wolkite town, Guraghe zone; Ethiopia. The main objective of the study was to assess the role of community participation in preventing crime in case of wolkite town. It is also to identify major causes and consequences of crime, to explain the role of community participation in preventing crime, and to assess the crime prevention mechanisms in societies of wolkite town. To achieve the objective, 25 respondents were selected purposively from wolkite town. Both primary and secondary data were employed and were analyzed by both quantitative and qualitative data. In the study area crime and crime related problems such as theft, corruption, killing, conflict and etc are the major problems of the study area. Therefore, to minimize the problem of wolkite town community should participate in crime prevention together with police force, government body and private sectoren_US
