Abstract
The main objective of this study was to assess performance appraisal system in case of Wolkite
poly technic college. The study was conducted through the use of descriptive type of research
design the target population of the study was the employees of Wolkite poly technic college who
are 341 in number. From those 113 employees had been taken as a sample for this study. The
study also uses simple random sampling technique. Because it gives equal chance for each
employees to be a sample. The researchers would use qualitative type of data that would be
collected from primary and secondary source of data. To collect primary data, the researchers
would use both questionnaires and interview. Secondary data would be collected from annual
reports of the college. To analysis the collected data, the researchers would use percentage and
frequency. And after analysis the collected data it would be presented in the form of table. The
findings of the study show that the involvement of employees in appraisal practice is less,
employees are not evaluated periodically, only recent performance was seen during conducting
performance evaluation, lack of feedback. To alleviate the problems, the college is advised to
revise, modify and amend its appraisal system.
