Calcium acetate is the calcium salt of acetic acid. It is used, commonly as a hydrate, to treat hyperphosphaspataemia (excess phosphate in the blood) in patients with kidney disease: the calcium ion combines with dietary phosphate to form (insoluble) calcium phosphate, which is excreted in the feces. In this study, calcium acetate was prepared by using eggshell and vinegar for the purpose of minimizing high raw materials cost, energy consumption, and energy wastage. The ef ects of concentration and extraction time was determined. Egg shell was reacted with acetic acid at dif erent conditions (concentration at 2M,4M and 6M and reaction time 1,2 and 3 hrs.). The maximum ef ect were chosen based on the maximum yield of calcium acetate. Afterwards, the prepared calcium acetate was used to remove phosphate ion from a solution. Generally maxium ef ect for calcium acetate preparation was found to be at 6M, for 3hren_US
