Abstract
The general objective of this study is to examine major socio-economic cause of low level of
educational achievement of rural students in Borer and Walga primary school and Walga secondary
and Preparatory School. The general objective of the study was to examine the major socio
economic causes of low level of educational achievement of rural students and the specific objective
of the study was to identify the major economic factor that affect educational achievement of rural
students, to assess the effect of educational background of parents on the educational achievement of
rural students and to examine the social factors that affect the educational achievement of rural
students. In this study we used mixed research approach (both qualitative and quantitative approach
were employed) and we used cross sectional research design because the study was completed
within the short period of time. The study was obtained information from primary and secondary
data source. The primary data source was obtained /collected by using in depth and key informant
interview and questioner from the respondent. The secondary data source was collected or gathered
from books, magazines, published and unpublished. Our research were used probable random
sampling techniques, with these techniques was used random sampling techniques and through this
technique we were used 335 samples as respondent from the total population of which 35 for in
depth and key informant interview and the rest of the respondents was selected for questionnaires’.
And also the researcher were analyzed and displayed the qualitative and quantitative data that
obtained from interview and questionnaires the qualitative data was gathered through interview,
and it were interpreted and analyzed in the form of words, sentences and paragraph while the
quantitative data that were obtained through questionnaire were displayed through descriptive
statistics.
