Abstract
This paper attempted to assess the role of local community participation in realizing good governance in wolkite town administration. The main objective of this study was to assess the role of local community participation in realizing good governance. The significant of the study is to improve quality life and reduce bad governance in the study area. The study also use descriptive and cross sectional research design, qualitative and quantitative research approach and the researcher used probably and non probably sampling techniques. Primary data were collected through interview, and questionnaire. In distributing the questionnaire, simple random sampling was used to select the respondents in the society of wolkite town administration in realizing good governance in the community participation. The finding was analyzed by qualitative and quantitative research techniques. The major challenges of good governance in the study area are, Unemployment, problem of infrastructure, problem of water supply and unfair distribution among the local community and other socio-economic factor are the major and the most challenge that could hinder community participation. The study also sets some recommendation to overcome the problem of Good governance. Based on the finding the researcher recommended that,, the town administration should be taking possible measurements and mechanisms for the existing situation of the study.
