Abstract

This study was conducted under the title of the factors affecting female student academic achievement in Aba-fransoa secondary school in grade 12 .The objective of the study was to investigate the major factors that affect the academic achievement of female students. The researcher was used a descriptive type of research design because such type of research design is marked by the prior formulation of a specific research problem and to obtain complete and adequate information. Qualitative and quantitative research approaches are also used in this study; Qualitative research approach is amounts of data gathering method that is viewed as sensitizing ideas or terms that enhance our understanding. The researchers used method was purposive sampling and simple random sampling regarding two questionnaires prepared for female students and teachers and interview was prepared for principal. The already gathered data from the representatives was carefully arranged and categorized in to suitable form and then merged in to similar group and finally converted in the percentages. To determine the sample size the researcher, use (Yeman, 1967) formula, because of the most popular and it is easy to determine or calculate the sample size. Then after, the whole data were accurately interpreted. The major findings were school related factor, parental involvement and income were major findings affect female student academic achievement. In doing so, the study point out to solve the problem school principal, teachers, community, parent and female student them solves should be involved to allied this problem
