Abstract
Maternal satisfaction is a means of evaluating quality of maternal health care given in health
facilities. Maternal health is important not only to the individual women requiring maternity
care, but to her newborn and immediate family as well as national and global development. The
WHO recommends that women’s satisfaction be assessed to improve the quality and
effectiveness of health care. The general objective of this study to assess the factors affecting the
maternal satisfaction with delivery services in Atat Hospital. Data was collected by using well designed questionnaires from a sample of 120 respondents were selected by using systematic
sampling technique. The data were analyzed by statistical software packages (SPSS). To analyze
the data, descriptive statistics, chi-square test of associations and binary logistic regression were
used. The descriptive result revealed that about 72.5% of the mothers were satisfied with
delivery services compared to (27.5%) who were not satisfied. Educational Level, gender of
delivery attendant, waiting time, Status of pregnancy and general hospital cleanliness has
significant association with maternal satisfaction with delivery services at 5% level of
significance. From the result of study the variable educational status of women, gender of
delivery attendant, Status of pregnancy, waiting time and general hospital cleanliness had
statistically significant effect on maternal satisfaction with delivery services. Therefore, the
hospital administration should improve the cleanness hospital compound. Mothers should
accept’ preferences of the gender of the personnel who attends their delivery.
