    Purchasing refers to a function in business where by the enterprise obtains the inputs for what was produced as well as other goods and services it requires. Purchasing practice in Ethiopia is not recent phenomena Nowadays, it play curtail role by providing the necessary material to other department. The investigation conducted on important and difficulties or challenges of purchasing activity Wolkite University. The major objective of this study was focus on improving purchasing mechanism of challenges enriching practice with the most relevant information and assessing the department. This research had been very significant in helping the organization..To do this both primary and secondary data is needed for successful achievement of the study. Primary data was collected from purchasing department committee and the manger though open and closed ended questioner. But secondary data were gathered from different document, books, and reports of purchasing department. The study use census sampling techniques.
