    Factors that affect student’s participation in throwing and jumping event activity in first year sport science students a senior essay submitted to Wolkite University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of applied science in sport science

    This study was conduct to investigate the factors that affects students’ participation in Throwing and jumping event activity in Wolkite university Second year sport science students. The subject of the study was 14 students and 2 teachers which the students was selected by simple random sampling method and the teachers was selected by purposively. The descriptive statically research design was employed; data was collected using questionnaire and was analyzed by using tables and percentages. The results showed that, most of the students have interests to participate in Throwing and Jumping event activity but few of them participated regularly in Throwing and jumping event activity. On the other hand, more than two third (75%) didn’t participate. Lack of equipment’s, time constraint, lack of awareness and lack of interest are the major factors that affect student’s participation in Throwing and jumping event activity. Therefore, the department administrators should make an effort to fulfill the equipment and space, the teachers should provide and organize awareness program and creation for all the university communities (students and administrators) and should work cooperatively as well as, the students should keep participation and value the benefits provided by field event activity
