A descriptive correlation design was adopted to ensure the objectives of this study. A total of 18 Elose secondary School students participated in this study. The results of this study indicated that compensation (M=2.76) and cognitive (M=2.68) reading strategies were the most commonly used strategies by English language students to develop their reading comprehension skills at low level. Besides, the results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the reading strategies used by students and their reading comprehension abilities(r=0.583, p=.003, p>0.05).
