Item EFFECT OF SEED PRIMING ON GERMINATION OF BARLEY SEED(2022-06) Demeke Atumo,; Teshome Bekele,; Terefe Eteb,; Adem Abdu,; Ayele Habte,; Damtew Haile,; Fatuma mohammed,Barley(hordeum vulgare L.) is one of the most important small cereal crop which rank fourth after wheat, maize and rice in the World and third in Ethiopia both in term of area and production after teff and maize (Kasahun 1996. Therefore objectives of the study are; To evaluate the effect of seed priming on germination, emergence and vigor of Barley seeds. This senior research project was conducted at Wolkite University, College of Agriculture and Natural resource, Department of plant science laboratory (April-June, 2022). A completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications having four treatment seed priming was conducted. The experimental was conducted in laboratory before planting the seed. In accordance with the specifications of the design, a laboratory was prepared with available materials and each treatment was assigned randomly to experimental plots or pots. Data collected consisted of germination %, and seedling performance. Germination percentage was done randomly. The collected data were subjected to statistical analysis using SAS software. Significant differences between and/or among treatments were separated by Least Significant Differences (LSD) test. Germination % and seedling performance was recorded.
