PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL FROM COTTON SEE
(WOLKITE UNIVERSITY, 2021-08) DINAOL FEYISA; EFA TEKILU; LEMI TILAHUN; TAKILE EJETA; YAIKOB EJETA…
Biodiesel, known as fatty acid methyl ester (FAME), was produced from crude cottonseed oil(triglycerides) by trans esterification with methanol in the presence of sodium hydroxide. Biodiesel has become more attractive recently because of its environmental benefits and the fact that is made fromrenewabl e resorces.the cost of biodiesel however, it’s the main handle to commercialization ofth product. The used cooking oils are used as raw material, adaption of continuous transesterification process and recovery of high quality glycerol form biodiesel by product (glycerol) are primary options to be considered to lower the cost of biodiesel. There are four primary ways to make biodiesel, direct use and blending, micro emulsions, thermal cracking (pyrolysis) and transesterification. The most commonly used method is Trans esterification of vegetable oil and animal facts. The Trans esterification reaction is affected by molar ratio of glycerides to alcohol, catalysts, reaction temperature, reaction time, free fatty acids and water content of oils or facts. In the present work, the Transesterification process for production of cotton seed oil methyl ester has been investigated
