Item OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGE OF TANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE CONSERVATION IN ADDIS ABEBA, ETHIOPIA(WOLKITE UNIVERSITY, 2019-06) DESE DEREJE, DESEThe study is mainly focused on “opportunities and challenges of tangible cultural heritage conservation in Addis Ababa”. The main objective of the study is to assess opportunities and challenges of tangible cultural heritage conservation in Addis Ababa. The study employed mixed research approach and mixed approach type of research design cross sectional research design. Purposive sampling technique employed to select sample respondents. The data were collected from local communities of Addis Ababa and Addis Ababa culture and tourism office. On the bases of collected data and analysis the following findings were obtained. The role of local communities is very low in conserving and protecting tangible cultural heritages. The responsible body or the Addis Ababa culture and tourism bureau has not adequate professionals who works on conservation typically, lack of effective awareness creation, to motivate or aware the concerned bodies towards conservation. To resolve the challenges, the government should educate the community to create more awareness and government should give responsibilities to potential local people. In addition to that, Addis Ababa culture and tourism office should work on promotion to build the communities awareness.
