    CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCESE OF GENDER INEQUALITY AT WORK PLACES: THE A CASE OF ADDIS KIFLE KETEMA, WOLKITE TOWN

    This study was conducted to examine the causes and consequences of gender inequality at work place in Wolkite Town Addis kifle ketema Government office. The study investigates various causes related with gender inequality at work place in Wolkite town, Addis kifle ketema. The study alsoaims to assess the socio-cultural and economic consequences of gender inequality at work place in selected study area. In the study, both qualitative and quantitative research methods were used for this research. Both probability and non-probability sampling techniques were employed. From non-probability sampling technique purposive sampling techniques was used and from probability sampling techniques systematic sampling technique was employed. Structured questionnaire was administered to collect data from 29 respondents from one purposively selected kebele. Questionnaire and interview guide were employed as data collection instruments. Data were collected from primary and secondary sources. Regarding the method of data analysis, quantitative data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, percentage and tables to analyze data gathered through sample survey and qualitative data analyzed through thematic analysis. The study found that, there are various causes and consequences of gender inequality at work place these causes include cultural background, political leader, lack of education, religion, domination of male, housewife of women, Hardness of work, biological, Selfishness of men, patriarchy system, social reaction, social cause and social consequences, economic consequences, political consequences and psychological effects. Government should undertake policies and support system that promotes gender inequality at work place. To resolve the problem of gender inequality at work places first resolve education for girls, women participation in political, legal and marital rights, employment outside of home for women and men a like lower fertility and reduce child mortality. The government and community should work together to reduce the causes and consequences of gender inequality at work place giving awareness that both men and women has equal right, capacity or ability and skill at the work place equally.
