    ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways. Most asthma exacerbations can be prevented if management is comprehensive. Poorly managed asthma leads to emergency treatment and hospitalization. It imposes a large burden on individuals and healthcare systems so that periodic research on the prevalence and factors that lead patients to visit ER is mandatory for proper health care planning, management and prevention of the problem in order to reduce health care cost, morbidity and mortality thereby assuring productive citizens. Objective: This study was aim to assess the magnitude, identify the risk factors, and evaluate the treatment options of acute exacerbations of bronchial asthma among patients visiting the emergency department at WUSH. Methods: The study was from facility based cross sectional, The study was carried out at WUSH, Ethiopia from November 26, 2023to November 26, 2024G.C. The Source population was all patients who visited EOPD of WUSH during study period. The Study population is all adult patients who present with acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma and visited adult emergency department. All adult patients who visited EOPD of WUSH and diagnosed as a case of bronchial asthma during study period was selected. The sampling technique was by sequential sampling technique. The required data was obtained by preparing a structured check list table. The data was obtained from HMIS logbook of WUSH. Patients with the diagnosis of asthma was retrieved from HMIS log book, and then the data was collected through gathering all medical records of patients with asthma who came in the study period.
